England: Windsor Castle and London--Day 1

Today we visited Windsor Castle--the summer residence of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's standard is flying high above the battlement--the sign that she is in residence.

The garden area around the castle used to be the moat in medieval times.

We we fortunate to be there for the changing of the guard.

I couldn't resist.

We finally made it to London today. Here we are in a taxi. One of the few I've ever ridden in,.

Our hotel is across from Hyde Park where Princess Diana's memorial fountain is. It was unfortunately closed by the time we walked by, but the British people obviously still love her as we saw flowers that were left there earlier in the day.
