England: Stratford-upon-Avon aka The highlight of my trip so far
Today marked the highlight of our trip so far--a visit to Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon.
Technically, I was not supposed to take this picture of the room where he was born. Shhh! Don't tell anyone! |
These next several pictures are of the back and front of his childhood home. |
Actors perform passages from Shakespeare's works in the backyard courtyard. Tell them what you want to hear, and they'll perform it. |
The Bardette |
I just can't get enough of these Tudor style houses! |
This is King Edward VI grammar School where Shakespeare received his education. |
This is an excavation of the house where Shakespeare moved when he retired in 1610. |
A real, live thatched roof! |
We're leaving Reading tomorrow, bound for London and the next leg of our adventure. Stay tuned... |
