England: Stratford-upon-Avon aka The highlight of my trip so far

Today marked the highlight of our trip so far--a visit to Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Technically, I was not supposed to take this picture of the room where he was born. Shhh! Don't tell anyone!

These next several pictures are of the back and front of his childhood home.

Actors perform passages from Shakespeare's works in the backyard  courtyard.  Tell them what you want to hear, and they'll perform it.

The Bardette

I just can't get enough of these Tudor style houses!

This is King Edward VI grammar School where Shakespeare received his education.

This is an excavation of the house where Shakespeare moved when he retired in 1610.

A real, live thatched roof!

We're leaving Reading tomorrow, bound for London and the next  leg of our adventure. Stay tuned...
